✹ PREFERENCES

☆ BACKTAGGING: Yes.
☆ THREAD HOPPING: Yes. If it's a network post, go crazy. But if it's a log, give me some sort of heads up if the post order should be changing. I don't want to screw up the flow.
☆ FOURTHWALLING: Only in reverse. Junpei's confirmed to have watched The Legend of Zelda, The Matrix, and Back to the Future, as well as some generic action movies and mecha anime. I'll do a more thorough search for references at a later point. PM me if you want him to recognize someone.
☆ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Not too much. I've included some limits below, but PM me if you're not sure about something! Chances are you can still convince me!
☆ WARNINGS: UHH. Zero Escape is a warning of its own. Junpei's speech can be crude at times, but that's the least of it. His humour's pretty dark, and he'll easily bring up topics like death, torture, suicide, etc if slightly prompted. He's likely to show signs of alcoholism, as well. If there's anything specific you want to avoid, just let me know!
☆ RELATIONSHIPS: I live for ships. Some may be difficult to set up, but plotting is always okay! Personal favourites are Santa, Carlos, and Snake, while of course Junpei's only love is Akane-- still, there's always other options as well.
☆ HEADCANON: Junpei's based on the challenger/protector^[1],[2], showing signs of a 9-wing in ZTD, so I keep my headcanon in check with "would an eight do __?" and love adopting some of the type's really obscure quirks while I'm at it. Playing against fellow 999 characters, I'll always be up for discussing the enneagram to help guide how they might interact in a less life-or-death situation!

✹ FIRST IMPRESSIONS

☆ NAME / BIRTH:
「天明寺淳平」 or Tenmyouji Junpei. It should be noted there's some wordplay going on.
Between it being standard in Japan, and his initial distrust of new people, he'll usually introduce himself by only his family name. If he offers his given name right from the start, it's a pretty good indicator of how much he likes the other person.
As for nicknames, Akane used to call him "Jumpy", and if he'd had a chance in the Nonary Game, he'd have given himself the codename "Star".

His birthdate is February 8th, 2006, making him 22 years old at his canon point of January 2029. So, Aquarius and Dog if you're into zodiac stuff. But let's be real. It was only chosen for the digital root of 9.

☆ VISUAL:
174cm / 5'8.5" with a lean build. Brown hair. Brown eyes, though in the right light, they may appear red.
Described by the character designer as "surprisingly athletic", suggesting you'd never know from looking at him-- so it can be assumed he doesn't have much muscle tone, and possibly can't build any up even if he tried. A reasonable trade, as he's also the type that can overeat without ever putting on weight.

☆ FASHION:
Sneakerhead. His clothing may have changed from flashy blue and red to plain black, but there's still some immaturity to it. His leather jacket has snaps instead of buttons or a zipper, and his shirt hangs out below it to one side. While his shoes lack a design, they're skate style rather than anything more formal. It's fairly likely that what he brought to Dcom doesn't reflect what he still has, so that ridiculous fashion sense he's sported even since he was 12 is definitely in there.

☆ DEMEANOR:
The past year's given him a negative outlook on life and people, and he shows it. He looks annoyed. Closed off. He crosses his arms fairly often during conversation. When not completely disinterested, he tends to appear skeptical of whatever he's being told, even if he does in fact believe it.

His voice keeps going back and forth in my head while I write, so take him as whichever one you like more!
Those he speaks to will generally find that his negative attitude adds a sarcastic tone to nearly everything he says-- this applies when he's being completely sincere, as well, so misunderstandings are encouraged!

☆ OLFACTORY:
His breath will often smell like alcohol, most likely. As for his body, Junpei is extremely conscious about staying clean, but not so much in consideration of others as constantly needing to remove any trace of blood he may have come in contact with during the day. Whether it only touched his clothes or his skin, his compulsion to keep the smell of blood off of him is strong enough that he spends most nights sleeping under a running shower.
He's also somewhat messy-- clothes on the floor instead of away, etc-- so under more normal circumstances there's no telling how many times he'll have worn the same thing over again as long as it looks clean.

☆ HANDWRITING:
Standard-- Not fancy, not messy.

☆ MENTAL INFORMATION:
Junpei has access to the morphogenetic field, so what that means for fellow espers is he's unintentionally helping them. He'll be easier to read than people with no psychic abilities, and can be used as a sort of signal boost for anyone stronger than him.
Of course, it's also a two-way link, strengthened by emotional bonds, so if a relationship becomes close, he may be able to receive as well. This can go from picking up on concealed emotions, to actual telepathic communication, to the potential extreme of sharing each other's thoughts and senses at once-- Seeing through each other's eyes, feeling the same physical sensations, even making subconscious decisions for each other.
Junpei isn't strong enough to get that far, himself, so it should rarely be a concern.

☆ MAGICAL INFORMATION:
Magic doesn't exist in his world, so he's just a regular person. Nothing special.

✹ IC PERMISSIONS

☆ HUGGING:
Junpei loves hugs. He'd rather give them than get them, but go ahead anyway.

☆ FLIRTING:
Yes. Of course, as much fun as he'll have with it, he's terrible at telling whether it's serious or not. So who knows where anything's going to lead.

☆ KISSING:
Yeah, why not? But if a guy tries it, he'll probably punch him.

☆ ROMANCE:
If you're not Akane, you're getting friendzoned. Your characters are free to feel or try whatever! I don't mind! It'll probably be interesting. But I don't feel like I can get him to return the attraction too quickly without breaking character. Junpei does have a lot of love to give, but it's the protective kind instead. Expect a fierce loyalty from him once you're close enough, or even access to his more vulnerable side, but nothing too mushy.
Technically, though, this means the illusion of a relationship can be maintained with him as long as he's not confronted about how he really feels.

☆ SMUT:
"What happens, happens, right? If you get the chance, you've just gotta go for it. That's what a man's supposed to do."
~~This is all I've done with this muse for the first six months I've had him, so~~ in general, yes, but it'll depend on your character. If it's happening, PM me so I know whether you want it detailed or fade-to-black.

☆ FIGHTING:
Yes, but be prepared to ~~lose horribly~~ win, actually. He tends towards only fighting people stronger or older than him, and generally has his guard down around women.
That said, once you get him started he does have a really strong punch, and no issue with going right for the face. If your character's built like Santa, there will be enough force to knock them over. If they're more like Carlos, they'll lose their balance at the very least.

☆ MINOR INJURIES:
These are always fine, but PM me if anything should be breaking-- skin or bone. I don't want to misread things and accidentally write the damage off.

☆ MAJOR INJURIES:
PM me first. I don't do too well with extremely graphic descriptions, especially with anything surgical in nature-- so toning down the detail is the best way to still get what you want. Dismemberment isn't my favourite, either, but mainly I'm just shallow about appearances, so the content itself is fine. The more visible and permanent something is, the more I'd feel better having it happen closer to a death.
My only absolute NOs that I won't budge on are eye damage and genital mutilation. So. Uh. Yeah, let's not.

☆ DEATH:
Junpei's a pro at dying. PM me first, though. I need to know how it's happening before I can decide whether I have any idea how to play it.
Because he's been taken from after the Ambidex fragment, he's also gained some memories of alternate deaths, even if they may be repressed. Being put under similar stress may cause flashbacks, and he may not understand how. If you want that to happen, certain things that might help to trigger the memories include: axes, severed limbs, slit neck or throat, syringes or needles, water or mention of drowning, poison, fire, asphyxiation, the sound of gunfire, or having to protect someone else at the same time.

☆ TELEPATHY/MIND READING:
